islander's views, opinions, life stories, and much more…
Hello there! Its been quite a while since I’ve been here. The last thing I posted… oh well, it’s in the distant past, now, eh? Anywho, moving on. For many who are reading this, you may or may not have experienced the life changing events of being a freshman. Now, don’t serenade me with questions, asking me why I said Life Changing. Theres a reason behind this, and I will eventually get to it. So pay close attention when I type out this hopefully, lengthy blog. Here, I go !
Entering the Freshman year was no easy task. Walking through the halls of an unfamiliar territory is as frightening as walking through a crowded store, trying to find a family member. I remember scanning the walls, the people, the way they talk and walked and wondering if I could fit in so easily as they did. The first week of high school seemed to last forever. We were constantly pushed into activities, work and spotlight that threaten to “make” or “break” us. Some saw this spotlight as an opportunity to up their social standings, others avoiding it at any costs. As for me, I leaned more to the others avoiding it.
By the time the week went by, and to my relief, we were as good as forgotten. I remember feeling lonely the first week of school due to different lunch times with friends. But that changed when my schedule did. Along the way, came obstacles that you should probably be cautious about when you enter highschool. There are three things I’ll tell you. One, being close to your teachers is a definite up and totally helps you when it comes to grades! Two, try not to involve yourself in so much drama, and avoid people you KNOW you won’t get along with. And three, enjoy your years in a proper manner. Don’t go partyparty over everything but don’t be uptight either. Learn to enjoy, but still be able to compromise those last questions on the homework. Another thing is, keep your eyes open and your ears attentive, there are so many opportunities in the world, you don’t want to miss them.
FIRST TEN RULES YOU SHOULD KNOW
1) There will always be obstacles. The best you can do is, face it head on. Avoid it later and it’ll pop back up.
2) Be careful with what friends you make, and be sure to have one close friend you can ALWAYS rely on.
3) Boys. Girls. SCHOOL WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU, LIKE THEY WILL.
4) Dress appropriately, or at least how you feel or want to be treated. If you want to be taken serious, at least make an effort to look serious.
5) DO NOT PROCASTINATE. It will come back to bite you in the butt.
6) Don’t get involved with problems. or drama. or anything you know will get you into trouble.
7) Listen to the upperclassmen(SENIORS MAINLY.)
Find the best bathroom and drinking founting.
9) keep your schedule with you, the first week of school.
10) Know your goals and don’t share them ! (:
Ever wandered how to add depth to your characters? Then just ask yourself some questions and answer them so you can create your own characters for any kind of story. Below is just an example of what you could possible do. Thanks squiddooo for the questions (:
- Name? Eimi Souma
- Age? 15
- Approximate height? 5’2″
- Approximate weight? 119 lb
- Hair colour? light honey coloured
- Eye colour? soft brown
- Skin tone? light beige
- Do they speak with an accent? nope
- Where are they from? Okinawa, Japan <3
- Where are they now? Tokyo, Japan
Who are their parents? Mother; Haruna Souma, Father; Ken Souma - What is their earliest memory? Watching her mother leave, and a few minutes later her father’s family picks her up.
- What did they want to be when they grew up? Didn’t care about what would happen later on. Eimi didn’t want to think about it.
- What did/do their parents want them to be? Her father(who dies) wanted his daughter to be happy. Her mother also wanted this but was selfish.
- Do they have siblings? Older or younger? Brothers or sisters? None whatsoever.
- Do they have or have they ever had children? How many? In the future she has three kids!
- Do they or have ever had a significant other? Are they still with them? Why? Why not? When she was younger, and was with the Souma family she meets a boy from a daycare. That boy is her first love who she often bullied! She doesn’t realize that she meets him at her new school.
- What were they doing right before the story starts? ….. don’t get this question lol
- Up until now, what’s the most noteworthy thing they’ve done? To them? To the people around them? She ran away from the Souma family when she was 8 and ventured around for 3 hours before she was caught by her body guards.
- What was their education like? Ever since she was taken to the Souma family she has had a large amount of highly advanced education.
basically thats all you do! So creating a character can be made easier if you find more about them (: Using questions are a very efficient way to find more depth in your character, and it also helps you be more organized and perhaps prepared. Good luck on your stories!
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of songs that will make me work out… or stretch. Kind of like my own motivation..ish. It helps me out tremendously although sometimes it quite loud… I volume it up so loud that it sometimes throbs!
Teehee, I like to tune out the world when I am working out. Like maybe a dubstep song: starry eyed – jakwob remix, etc. Dubstep gets me kind of sleepy at times +__+ but all in all, it’s been alright. Sometimes my muscles feel like they’re being pulled apart. eeek! Although sometimes it feels great I just want to lie down and have ice cream. Hahaha, well I’ll be going now. Heres a list of songs I listen to:
*Sen no yoru wo koete – Aqua Timez [Japanese song, that is stuck in my head! It's not really a running song but it helps me focus since I have no clue what they're saying.]
*Starry eyed – Jakwob Remix [As I mentioned before, this one helps
but it makes me sleepy which isn't good!]
*Dtechnolife – Uverworld [or is it the other way around?... I forget what their band name is... either dtechnolife or uverworld haha. Anywho this one is a japanee rock song that REALLY helps me focus <3]
*Any of 2NE1s songs [hehe, they are truly energetic and helpful
]
*Laza Morgan – This Girl [Its so relaxing that I can't help listening to it, especially when I stretch!]
*Face Down – Red Jumpsuit Apparatus [This sound has me pumped and dancing!]
*Katy Perry’s songs [They are all hyper.... and I can remember the lyrics easily ]
*LADY GAGAA [Her songs get quite sickening after a while but they do pump you up :3]
errr, I would add more but at the moment I can’t seem to think (“:
Comment if you wish ~

In a way I was blessed to have curly hair. It was volumized, springy and always turned out how I wanted it to. Unfortunately, my curly hair comes with disadvantages as well. For example its dry most of the time, and super frizzy! Even though I try straightening, it turns out terrible unless I put some hair serum in it. I would be grateful to find ways to prevent it from being as… er, damagaed. I do have a list of options spread out for me. Like maybe puting egg in my hair to make it shinier and it looks healthy…
• At the end of my shower I make sure to shower in cold water so my hair can soak it up and shine better than if I had used hot water. Plus it helps wake me up!
• Less use of hot tools such as ironing it, etc. This will prevent it from damaging!
• Olive oil. BIG BIG ONE. Olive Oil is a huge help not only to hair but also skin! It is a great help for health benefits. Check to see if your face wash has olive oil in it.
• Try not to tie your hair up so tight, or after you shower. This will cause breakage in your hair, developing split ends.
• Cut/Trim your hair every 2-3 months to keep hair healthy and the split ends away.
• DO NOT Wring your hair with your towel after your shower. Your hair is most vulnerable when it is wet, therefore it can easily cause breakage.
• Working out can increase blood flow which is a great way to let your hair grow faster. Sweating is also very healthy for the body.
• Stay happy. Stress is never a great thing and can affect your health. Before you try doing any of this make sure you are satisfied with what you are doing. (: after all, your body is at ease when you are!
I use those tactics with my hair and still needing more considering my hairs condition… but like all the girls who do this so will I !
The two required subjects in schoolings today! Although there are more than those I’d like to take a bit of my time to talk about these two. Which one is more important than the other? History or math?
History of course! Without it where would we be? Our memories are all HISTORY, and we also learn from our mistakes because of history. So history has to be the answer!
Math of course! Without it we wouldn’t have the technology or medicine today. Math is complex but worth it to the end. It creates the new stuff that helps us all! So definetly math is the answer!
It may seem like there is only one answer. But take a bit of your time to ponder this question. What is that matters more? Or is there an answer? Really, the choice is up to beholder.
Although it may seen they outweigh each other in different catergories it is safe to say that both subjects are equally important in their own ways. We need both to take the advancing steps towards the future. As our history grows larger than it already is, so does our study on math. And thus forth, schooling is #1 priority of all ♥
My mother told me a number of tales, some containing superstition that I still believe. For example I was told never to sweep at night, otherwise I would have bad luck. Even the tiniest misfortune scared me out of my curiousity. I was careful when I handled glass, fearing that I would perhaps attain 7 years of bad luck.
I myself don’t know clearly how superstition started or how far back it dates but it certainly frightens me. Even in this advanced modern day the thought of going against it seems unwise.
It is not smart to do the following:
• Brooming at night, and then throw it in the trash. (I think, though I may be wrong, that doing this at night you will “sweep” away the bad spirits therefore leaving only the bad ones behind.)
• Opening an umbrella inside of a building. (I never understood why this was bad luck but I refrained from doing this…
)
• Breaking glass brings 7 years of bad luck. (Like the umbrella I also never understood why this is bad luck. But whenever glass did break I would tell the person they had 7 years of bad luck. Haha, but I’ve already lost count of how many years I have bad luck…)
• Women are not allowed to fish. (Women are said to bring bad luck if they go near the sacred place of a fisher… I am a Woman myself so I never understood it. But I should respect it since it is a superstition after all.)
• Clipping nails at night and you will not be at your parents funeral. (Although I read this from a book recently, I doubt I will be cutting my nails past 6.)
• Stepping on a crack will break your mamas back. (Avoided cracks in my childhood. I guess one would call me an overly paranoid person. But it is what I take pride in.
)
The list of superstition goes on and cultures have adopted such superstition and thus passing it through the generations to come. Although I only named a number of bad superstition, there are also good luck superstition ! ♥
• Finding a four leaf clover. (This one is famously know since four leaf clovers are rare to find amongst a field of clovers ! I have searced for one but to this day have failed.)
Er, I don’t know a lot of good lucks but that is the main one I grew up with… Or can remember! If you feel like adding to my list of superstitions then please go ahead and comment below (: I would love to see what sorts of superstition is passing through the generations!

The beginning of the summer was like any other. It didn’t feel yet like summer, and the realization that it was summer took a few weeks to get adjusted to.
I regularly woke up at the time I usually did before summer, and it was only when it was a month into summer that my habit ceased.
July was hazy, sunny, and slightly warm here in the puget sound. There were a number of sunny days that shone brightly down on the yellowing grasses, that left me a lazy mess. As a week of sunny days arrived in the late july it was accompanied by a week of rainy days that to my relief dampened the warm grass.
As time sped, I forgot the dates and even the time, without a care. But suddenly summer caught up with me and before I knew it, it was August ! I found myself continuously looking at the calender, suddenly thinking how much time had past without me even noticing. That time is coming to a fast end, as it is almost the end of August
This summer was regrettably a fast one, and like all the others it went without my notice. Good bye summer of ’11 !
