Uncle San,
the boat has not been done yet. It is a very old boat that I bought for 200 bucks. I am just rebuilding it and hopefully I can put it in the water next summer. It is already too late for this summer! lol. I am still working on it.

I think what we all should do in order to help our students who are currently in schools to become our future leaders of "IFA" island is to feed them with the right information to clearly understand the importance of education and also encouraging them to work hard in schools to make sure they achieve their desired goals in life. School teachers and parents of students play a major role in shaping our students to be effective and to be high goal achievers in school. We should all encourage our students to embrace life-supporting values by helping in the process of understanding why values are important in our lives, and how values can be successfully applied while leading others.. We demonstrate and practice the art of giving and receiving meaningful feedback using the SBI model as a valuable leadership tool. The ‘visual explorer’ visioning and planning tool has been very helpful in enabling students envision a better future and identify specific strategies and steps towards achieving this desired future in their schools and communities. In fact, the visual explorer always opens up lively interactive sessions where the students’ individual perceptions, beliefs, stereotypes and mental models around the concept of leadership are brought to surface.

Thank you so much for bringing this topic forth. If I may, I need to know more about the help you are referring to here. Do they need tutors/mentors? Do they need money? Housing? Please elaborate more on the kind of help our students need.

If it is money we are talking about, then I must say none of us is wealthy enough to provide the amount I suspect they may need. If it is tutoring or mentoring, then I think we can offer them that without any problem(s).

Our students need to know that the road to success in education is not an easy one. It requires dedication, attention, focus, orientation, networking and more! The money is there in the form of scholarships, grants and others. You just have to work hard in your educational endeavor to get these helps.

If anyone needs help in filling out forms, finding resources for secondary education, etc., please do not hesitate to come and ask on this site or visit the Yap State Dept. of Resources and Development @ www.yapdevelopments.org for more info.
