When looking at options for providing electricity to our first project on the ranch, we considered a grid-tied system. However, we soon realized that it would obstruct the future location of our home and require the use of heavy machinery in that area of the property. Ultimately, we decided to go with a full off-grid solar system. I am happy to say that we made the right decision.

This is the EG4 3KW 48V Inverter I bought from Signature Solar for a little over $600.

Ruixu Battery

A powerful highly rated 48V 100 amp hour battery by Ruixi which I bought for about $1,300

PV Solar Disconnect Switch

This one cost about $43 right off Amazon and is required to protect yourself and the inverter.

Breaker

The Inverter comes with this breaker and the battery wires, although the connections were not compatible with Ruixu's. You're going to need a bus bar like I used.

Busbar

The Ruixu Battery Wire Connections are not compatible with the connector that came with the inverter, so I bought this busbar off of amazon to connect the wires. It came in pairs of a negative and a positive busbar, but I only needed the negative and it cost only about $11.

Battery Rack

Forward looking here being the reason I purchased the rack, cuz I know I will need to expand the capabilities of this system and it's going to need at least one more battery.

The Solar Panel Racks cost $50 for a pair which supposed to only hold 1 panel. I cheated and made it where it can hold 2.

Bifacial 450 watt 14 amp Solar Panels

The panels each cost $220 and I needed at least a total of 120 volts as required by my inverter. Each panel can produce 38V so I needed at least 4.
